Dean Close St John's — the school grounds

Dean Close St John's School is a co-educational preparatory school in Chepstow dedicated to giving children the best start in life. The school sits above the historic town of Chepstow overlooking Chepstow Castle. It has excellent facilities including a Sports Hall, Astro-turf, swimming pool, tennis courts, playing fields, Art and Design Technology Centre and a Music School.

The school offers an all-round education for children aged to 13 years. Boarding starts at 7 years old. All the boarders live as a family in the warm and welcoming Boarding House, which has its own kitchen, games room and sitting room, as well as boys' dormitories on the first floor and girls' dormitories on the top floor.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside and to Bristol, there is plenty for boarders to do.
Dean Close St John's — around the school

Small classroom sizes mean pupils get plenty of individual time with teachers and achieve excellent academic results. St John's also has a reputation for sporting excellence and first-class theatrical productions. St John's is one of a few schools to offer the Prep Schools Baccalaureate (PSB).

The PSB allows much more freedom in the classroom, so teachers can delve deeper into subjects that enthuse their pupils. This helps pupils show their academic ability but also skills such as independence, communication and leadership. Its family feel, pastoral care and happy children are the School's best testament.
