What pupils study at Bryanston — and where it takes them.
Subjects are specialist taught from very early - IT, Art and Music from Year 1, for example. In Year 5, Science is taught by a specialist and pupils have the added benefit of lessons in the Science Lab. All pupils learn French, adding a further - Latin or Spanish -in Year 6.
What sets our classrooms apart is the dialogue between staff and learners. Expect to hear pupils use the of the learning dispositions and for lessons to actively demonstrate them. We have a highly structured programme of personalised in to ensure our pupils make well informed, competitive applications in their chosen areas of specialism. Specialist applications, such as to medical schools, conservatoires, art foundation courses, Oxford and Cambridge receive carefully tailored guidance as needed.

At the heart of our approach to pastoral care is our distinctive approach to boarding, which starts with careful house allocation of every pupil and aims to ensure both individual and group 'fit'. Each boarding house is a supportive community where pupils benefit from an individual relationship with houseparent and a supportive house team.
Each year group lives in a designated area in the house and there are both specific activities for that group and 'whole house' activities which build a sense of community across the years. We see our boarding houses as a supportive 'home' at school, a community where pupils receive pastoral for their wellbeing, along with opportunities for personal growth.
A genuine home away from home
Pupils return to a family-like environment when the school day ends Our boarding houses are split between five senior boys' houses, five girls' houses and two junior boys' houses. They are places where pupils grow into independent, kind and confident young individuals.
From breakfast to lights-out, we provide family-style every day, ensuring the highest quality of pastoral care. Living in a boarding house enables pupils to form friendships that last a lifetime. From early on, pupils build a foundation that leads to a pupil body with high self-esteem and an empathetic culture.

Prep School Boys and girls can begin their time at Bryanston Prep when they are three years old by joining our Pre-Prep, and then moving to the Prep School in Year 3 (at age seven) and stay until Year 8 when they will be 13. For Prep, short term stays are considered and we do have pupils join us at various points in the academic year.
