King's College is a co-educational boarding school that comprises King's Prep for children from nursery to Year 8 and King's College senior school from Year 9 to Sixth Form. The schools are set on separate sites in wonderful spacious settings within the large county town of Taunton, just two-hours from London and Heathrow Airport.
Over half of our pupils are full boarders, and day pupils are able to board at weekends, creating a friendly home-from-home environment. High educational achievement is the principle aim of the schools. Children at King's College Prep achieve 100% pass rate at Common Entrance, whilst pupils' GCSE results at King's College regularly top the government local league tables, and the 2022 A-level results were one of the best in Somerset.
Our highly-qualified staff are passionate about their subjects and enrichment opportunities are extensive.

Pupils will be placed in option blocks only after they have made their choices, thus avoiding the restrictions imposed by many schools which operate fixed blocking systems. Pupils will also be placed in sets for each subject. In science, they may take either separate sciences leading to three GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, or follow a Double Science course which leads to two GCSEs.
Depending on which science option they choose, they will then study either four or five additional subjects, bringing their total number of courses taken to nine, and with English Literature, the number of GCSEs taken to ten. These will be selected from: Art Design Technology Drama French Geography German Latin Music Physical Education Philosophy of Religion and Ethics Spanish Dance Each of these courses will be taught for four periods per week.

Our Sixth Form pupils leave us as well-educated, well-rounded individuals, about to embark on the next stage of their journey. Our leavers choose to study a broad range of courses including medicine, business, economics, computer science, history, engineering, sciences, law, languages, art and design, and mathematics.
Many go on to study at numerous prestigious academic institutions including Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group universities, and some have chosen to continue their studies overseas, taking up scholarships at American universities.
