New Hall School is a boarding and day school for girls and boys aged 1-19 years. Set in a stunning location and dominated by the former Tudor palace of Beaulieu, New Hall is only 30 minutes from London, by train, and in striking distance of the coast.
New Hall is an inclusive independent Catholic school, welcoming all who its ethos. We believe that a New Hall education enables students to confidently meet the challenges of the world. Students of different traditions are educated in an environment where academic excellence is achieved.
This is brought about in surroundings where relationships are based on the Gospel values of trust and respect.
Within the Preparatory Divisions, we offer a rich and varied curriculum within an environment where every child is known. Small class sizes of around 20 children, along with differentiated lessons and setting for Maths and English in Key Stage 2, ensure that pupils are appropriately challenged and make exceptional progress.
The co-curricular provision is outstanding and the School's ethos is enhanced by exceptionally strong Music, Performing Arts and Sport Departments. The School has excellent facilities, many of which are floodlit: 8 netball courts, 2 all-weather hockey pitches, 6 rugby pitches & a 3G rugby training pitch, athletics track, 12 golf practice bays & launch monitor, 5 cricket wickets including a dedicated girls' facility, indoor & outdoor cricket nets, 25m 6-lane indoor pool, 10 tennis courts, sports hall and fitness suite.

Around two thirds of the Sixth Form progress to Russell Group universities. Each year a number of students also progress to Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine and Law courses.
Also, places are won regularly for top conservatoires and art schools. Oxbridge success includes three students in 2021, one in 2022, and two in 2023.

Founded in 1642, as the oldest Catholic girls' school in England, New Hall School has a long and rich history of Boarding; the School educates girls and boys, boarding and day, from ages 1-18 years. The founding Religious Order, the Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre, is one of the most ancient in the Church and was established in Europe long before the English Religious Community was founded in 1642.
During Penal Times, an English woman, Susan Hawley, went to the Low Countries and was trained in the Religious Life of the Holy Sepulchre. On making her profession, she left that Religious Community to found an English Religious Community in Liège: from these earliest days, girls were sent to the nuns to be educated.
A genuine home away from home
We have four Boarding Houses at New Hall. Campion and Petre are our Boys' houses and Dennett and Hawley are our Girls' houses. Campion House - Yrs 12 to 13 Boys (Boys) Campion House is for Boys in Years 12 to 13. Within these year the students are focused on exams and preparation for further studies.
Dennett House - Yr 12 to 13 Girls (Girls) Dennett House is for Girls in years 12 to 13. Within these year the students are focused on exams and preparation for further studies. Petre House - Yrs 3 to 11 Boys (Boys) Petre House Junior Boys' Boarding House.

Can consider short term stays for 1 academic term (not Michaelmas term) into certain year and depending upon availability. Special notes to agents about entry to the school Our main entry points are Reception, Yr 7, Yr 9 and Yr 12, however students can be considered for places in the Preparatory Division from Yr 3 to Yr 6 and should there be availability, we can potentially consider students in Yr 8.
In some circumstances we can consider short term stays for one academic term (not Michaelmas term) into certain year dependent upon availability. For majority of year the minimum stay will be 1 academic year. Application procedure and entrance tests We would initially require recent school reports to be sent through to the Admissions Department by email.
