Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate (QE) is a leading co-educational independent day and boarding school for students aged 3 months to 19 years and boarders from year 3. QE welcomes students from across the UK and over 50 nationalities worldwide, creating a rich, inclusive campus culture in the heart of rural North Yorkshire.
The Collegiate is made up of four schools, each with its unique qualities, but all sharing a common purpose of providing students with a first-class education and the opportunity to work towards higher education and a successful career. Why Queen Ethelburga's?

World-class facilities - located in the Yorkshire countryside with 220 acres of land, the school continues to provide students with top-class facilities. Over the last three years, the school has refurbished the gym, built a cricket pavilion, new basketball courts, a coffee shop, a uniform shop, a brand new mathematics block and refurbished boarding rooms with a beautiful kitchen garden.
Over 150 clubs onsite from academically focused clubs to QE Motorsports and E-sports. A strong sense of Community - the Collegiate fosters an inclusive and diverse atmosphere where students develop lifelong friendships and values. The school hosts a fantastic international community opening students to over 50 nationalities and cultures.

across the school. Our younger students take the Cambridge First or Preliminary exams which, alongside grammar, teach our learners how to write in specific genres and how to navigate and incorporate native speaker aspects of the such as phrasal verbs and idiomatic into their linguistic repertoire.
As students progress through the school they are trained on IELTS preparation courses where the focus is on the study of academic texts, and fully preparing students in the rules of academic writing in preparation for higher level studies. Our IELTS courses offer an in depth task based approach which provides our students with hands on practice of every possible task type and ensures they are able to meet the university entry requirements for their chosen course in the future.

Life as a Boarder Queen Ethelburga's welcome students wishing to Board from Year 3 to Year 13 with weekly and full boarding options. Here at Queen Ethelburga's, our approach is unique. We are very lucky having the facilities we do which help our committed and ambitious students make outstanding academic progress.
The Boarding environment is crucial in supporting student's personal development and helping students grow in all areas of their lives. At the heart of boarding at QE, are three central characteristics; opportunity, individuality and a caring community.
Boarding at Queen Ethelburga's Our boarding accommodation is some of the best you will find in Europe. Every boarding bedroom is provided with a timer controlled plasma TV, mini-kitchen with fridge, a hair dryer, iron and board, wash hand basin, heated towel rail and fan.
All bedrooms are air-conditioned and have their own individual private en-suite bathroom with toilet and shower. Sixth form students share apartment style accommodation, in preparation for the independent style of university accommodation. We understand and are responsive to the need for our school to be a happy and co-operative environment, in order to meet high academic aims.
