Located on the south coast of the UK, perched on the cliffs above the sea, Roedean's campus is an inspiring location to everyone who visits. Roedean provides an all-round education with an emphasis on academic results. Students achieve outstanding GCSE and A-Level results and go on to study at the top universities in the UK and around the world.
The most frequent destinations are Imperial, UCL, Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Bristol, and Manchester, with STEM subjects being the most popular studied. Roedean offers an holistic educational journey that develops independence of thought and personal initiative.
Students are encouraged to pursue their passions and challenge themselves to try new things.
The theatre seats 350 people and annual productions include a junior school play, a full school production, and a Sixth Form led performance piece. Roedean offers 14 different sports, with girls representing Roedean in over 800 fixtures across the board.
Roedean strongly believes that whatever the student's aspirations in sport that her experience should be enjoyable and rewarding, whilst sowing the seeds for a lifelong understanding of personal fitness. This is caring and friendly community, representing students from over 40 countries.

To ensure that your daughter's GCSE programme provides her with a broad, balanced education, consistent with the aims of the school, the National Curriculum and the requirements for university entrance, students must take: an integrated English Language and Literature course (examined as two separate GCSE subjects)Mathematics either the Double Certificate Combined Sciences (which counts as two GCSEs) or the Triple Certificate Separate Sciences (which counts as three GCSEs) at least one from Geography and History at least one modern foreign from French, German, Russian and Spanish To this core curriculum, students should further subjects from the list below, carefully selected to reflect their interests and future ambitions.
We recommend that students choose to take nine GCSEs in total, and only in exceptional circumstances, ten. We take this GCSE selection process very seriously and provide every girl with extensive and guidance to help her shape an individual programme of study throughout Key Stage 4.

Future Destinations Careers and Higher Education work begins in the Lower School, exposing the girls to experiences, opportunities and challenges to help nurture their talents and develop new interests and skills. Understanding university options both in the UK and overseas is vital for the older girls, and they undertake visits to institutions, participate in our own Higher Education day and weekly programme, take part in subject enrichment through competitions and discussion , have a weekly speakers programme, meet with their allocated mentor weekly, undertake their own research, attend mock interviews, and host a sixth form conference for schools across the UK.
We have a tailored four-year Oxbridge preparation programme that identifies and academically challenges the girls and our Oxford and Cambridge success. Students leave our sixth form for a wide range of universities with success every year to the best universities in the UK and abroad.
In 2014 all our Oxbridge candidates and Medics were successful in gaining their firm offers. 55% of the girls chose to study at Russell Group institutions with Oxbridge, UCL, Bristol and Manchester being the most popular.
Our alumni When the Lawrence sisters founded Roedean in 1885, they had plenty of staunch supporters to count on for advice and guidance. Roedean continues to leave its impression on people and generations of Old Roedeanians still regard their time here as the catalyst for the happy and successful lives they now lead.
Former President of the Old Roedeanians' Association (ORA) Sasha Glynn explains, "Apart from the excellent education we received and the enduring international friendships we made at Roedean, we learned that above all, it is important to live your life with kindness, compassion and understanding." Another OR explains, "The sense of community and family is unrivalled at Roedean. The House Staff and teachers went out of their way to make sure that we were all happy and enjoying school.
I miss the girls in my year who I grew up with there and I hope others are able to have the same incredible experience that I did." It is not just the pupils who remember the school so fondly. One former parent says, "Although my daughters left Roedean many years ago, it is still very to my heart." This strength of feeling has led to Roedean enjoying a wide circle of alumni - friends and supporters, former staff, pupils and parents alike - described as 'a mighty source of strength', keeping an eye on the school's well-being and contributing to its continued success.

Roedean set the standards for boarding in the 21st Century after completion of a £9 million refurbishment of the five Boarding Houses which included the sensitive redesign of 196 bedrooms, communal spaces and private study areas for both boarding and day girls.
The transformed accommodation is homely, light and reflects the original Arts and Crafts heritage of Roedean. Roedean was originally designed by the leading architect of the day, Sir John Simpson. He was a former Roedean parent who became President of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Entrance Examinations Years 7 to 10: Students will be required to take online entrance examinations in English, Mathematics, Verbal, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Puzzles and Problem-Solving and Creative Comprehension. They will also need to sit a Pearson English Level test.
