Ryde School is an island school with a global outlook located on the beautiful Isle of Wight, just off the south coast of England and within easy reach of London. Founded in 1921, Ryde is a thriving school providing exceptional educational opportunities for girls and boys.
The School is an inspiring mix of award-winning modern architecture and a traditional English country house, situated in extensive grounds overlooking the sea. What the school is known for? Our exam results are strong and each year a good number of pupils achieve the highest grades in all their exams. This leads to pupils achieving places at top universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and other leading institutions.
Our pupils apply for a broad range of courses such as maths, sciences, engineering, medicine, law, humanities, languages, arts, design, music and performing arts. We offer GCSE, A-level and the International Baccalaureate. A full enrichment programme has been developed to complement the A Level programme and allows further subjects to be studied if desired, including IB subjects, therefore fully integrating the whole Sixth Form in their study time.
Ryde School is the first Independent School in the UK to also offer the IBCP (Career-related Programme) alongside the IBDP and A Levels for Sixth Form. The IBCP offers three academic subjects alongside studying for a professional qualification.

School welcomes pupils from both the UK and overseas to its boarding community. We pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional level of pastoral care. The houses are welcoming and comfortable, providing a calm and relaxed atmosphere, with the emphasis on family values and well-ordered supervision.
Structured supervised study times and a wealth of extracurricular activities ensure our students are always stimulated, motivated and happy. 'I have really enjoyed my time at the boarding house. The experience has helped me to prepare for university and beyond.
Boarding at Ryde encourages pupils to become independent, open-minded and principled thinkers. Family values are at our core and the wellbeing of our boarders is paramount. We encourage all pupils to find a good work/life balance, and be proactive members of a supportive community.
Our last Ofsted report concluded we provide an 'outstanding' boarding provision for those in our care and at Ryde we pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional level of pastoral care with an emphasis on family values and well-ordered supervision.

Dependent upon the year of entry, and availability of space in the boarding house, we are happy to consider short stay pupils for a minimum of one term. Special notes to agents about entry to the school Parents seeking the admission of their sons or daughters are asked to complete and return a registration form, (available for download in PDF format) and to arrange payment of the non-returnable registration fee.
Admission and entry will be subject to the availability of a and the pupil satisfying our admission requirements. Pupils are considered for entry into any year group throughout the School where there are places available. We would not normally consider entry half way through GCSE or A Level/IB courses, although we do offer a one year GCSE programme for pupils joining in Year 11.
