St Edmund's College & Prep School is a co-educational Catholic school for just north of London and near to Cambridge. Our 450 acre rural campus ensures a safe and healthy environment for young students to live and work in, situated just 20 minutes away from both London Stansted and Luton airports, and around one hour from London Heathrow Airport.
We provide the full curriculum studying GCSE/IGCSE and A Level (as well as a three-year A Level with an EAL-led foundation year in year one). On average, 90% of our A Level students gain entrance to their first choice university. Overseas pupils make up around 10-12% of the total student body.
As such, they are fully integrated into mainstream classes from day one, whilst enjoying the offered by EAL classes across the curriculum and at no extra cost.
Boarding is in twin bedrooms for students in Years 7 to 11 (ages 11 to 16) or in single rooms for students studying A Levels in Years 12 and 13. Our boarding students also enjoy a diverse social and activities programme. We are a proud Catholic school but the majority of our students (around two-thirds) come from either another faith or non-faith backgrounds.
We are a strongly values-focused community, 'proposing' the Catholic faith and its teachings to our students rather than 'imposing' it upon them. What the school is known for? People make St Edmund's what it is. We recognise that, and the early College was grown around a clear vision - to provide a strong spiritual and academic foundation for young people and minds.

All pupils at the College also follow appropriate Religious Education courses. The curriculum of the College is dynamic and never becomes static. At St Edmund's we continually review and develop learning frameworks that engage, develop and extend each individual student.
The College offers a very full English curriculum leading to GCSE/IGCSE at age 16, with the possibility of A Level then following on in the Sixth Form. Performing and creative arts St Edmund's offers a full musical theatre programme, comprising singing, acting, jazz, tap and ballet.

Edmund's is an experience that students thrive on and boarders are very well supported throughout their time at the College. We aim to develop confident, caring, well-rounded and well-grounded students who are ready to take on the next stage of their lives and make a difference to the world they live in.
New boarders settle in quickly, with all boarders participating in a thorough induction programme over the course of opening weekend. Every boarder is allocated a mentor, whom they meet fortnightly within a small group, giving the opportunity to discuss any concerns they might have.
Whilst the boarding house areas for boys and girls are, of course, separate, our boarding programme is fully co-educational and mixed common room spaces ensure students have the opportunity to socialise and relax together after a day's study.
Boys' boarding is located in Allen Hall, named after Cardinal William Allen, who founded the College in 1568. Girl boarders are housed in Garvey's. Year 7 to 11 boarders share twin rooms, with Years 12-13 boarding in single rooms. All rooms are comfortably furnished with a wardrobe, desk and, in most cases, a sink.
