Taunton School International Summer School is set in our beautiful traditional school campus on the edge of Taunton town. Our International Summer School courses run for two, four or six weeks through July and August. All students sit an English placement test on arrival and are placed in age-appropriate level classes for their Academic English level.
As such, we endeavor to avoid classes where students are too widely spread in terms of age and/or ability. A balanced nationality mix is important to Taunton School. We aim for 10% of students from any one nationality on each course therefore giving students more opportunities to speak and improve their English.
The boarding houses are fully staffed by experienced house parents and students share a room with up to three other students, none of whom will speak the same so that English is used as much as possible to encourage development of skills.
Highly experienced at welcoming and teaching International Students (since 1996). Wide range of Summer School courses to suit a variety of needs for ages 8-17. Unique all round experience sets it apart from other schools. Superb facilities. Ideal preparation for entry into a British Boarding School to study GCSEs, A Levels and the IB Diploma.
School history Taunton School was founded in 1847. Originally housed in what has now become one of the boys' boarding houses, Fairwater, the school moved to its current location in 1870. The now Grade II listed gothic-style building was constructed by Joseph James, complete with an impressive tower.

Boarding at Taunton School International Summer
Day-to-day boarding life and pastoral care at Taunton School International Summer.
School philosophy is that students should be safe, happy and continuously learning. When students know they are completely safe and feel contented in their environment, learning comes naturally. Our comfortable boarding houses allow each student to share a room with a student of a different first and easily make friends.
We give the highest levels of care and attention to every student to make sure their time in Taunton is remarkable and memorable. Experienced house parents provide a family atmosphere and 24-hour care appropriate to the students' ages and needs.
All accommodation, laundry, cleaning, food etc is included in the Summer School course fee. The students will be full-time boarders in our two beautiful boarding houses on the school campus. The boarding houses are fully staffed by experienced house parents and students share a room with up to three other students, none of whom will speak the same so that English is used as much as possible to encourage development of skills.
Thone (Boys and Girls) Our Junior students reside in Thone our comfortable Prep School boarding house. Students stay in bedrooms of between two to six students. Wherever possible, we make sure they share with students of a different first . This helps our students to speak English at all times, and is one of the reasons why progress in the English is so noticeable.

Special notes to agents about entry to the school Our Summer School is for students aged between 8 & 17 years. Both the Junior and Senior Summer School course is academically focused, with 25 hours a week of academic lessons. Students can stay for 2, 4 or 6 weeks and each length of course varies in course content.
