Founded in 1837, Wellington School is a co-educational, day and boarding school set in a small town and surrounded by the beautiful Somerset countryside. We offer a strong academic curriculum, broad co-curricular opportunities, excellent pastoral care and a clear sense of values.
Our Senior School welcome pupils from 11-18. With outstanding academic results and superb facilities, we are a down to earth, friendly School with delightful pupils who have a strong work ethic and sense of purpose. Last year saw 77% of our Sixth Form pupils going on to Russell Group or equivalent universities.
The level of we give them with careers choices, university applications and interview preparation is immense.
CCF (Cadets), Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, frequent trips, canoeing, surfing, and caving are just some of our additional activities. We also have a superb Music School, excellent sporting programmes with a specialised elite athlete development element and vibrant art, design and drama departments.

We appreciate that knowledge and skills do not exist in subject silos, and that in order to solve real life problems, knowledge and skills need to be connected across subjects. Our thematic approach helps to unite common content and encourages pupils to make links between subjects.
During their time in the Lower School pupils at Wellington also follow courses in Computer Science and Digital Literacy and AI, as well as specially designed interdisciplinary, project‑based programme that develops pupils' enquiry, research, and storytelling skills, whilst applying know-how developed through their Digital Literacy and AI lessons, to address real‑world problems.

Wellington School's leavers have progressed to a wide range of higher education courses, apprenticeships, employment, and gap year opportunities, reflecting the school's commitment to treating every student as an individual and providing tailored guidance to suit their aspirations. Students have enrolled at universities across the UK, including prestigious institutions such as the University of Bath, University of Bristol, University of Exeter, Loughborough University, Cardiff University and RADA pursuing courses in STEM subjects like Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biomedical Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine, as well as in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Creative industries, including Music Production, Drama, Creative Writing, International Relations, Law, Fashion Management, and Stage Management.

School offers a warm, structured, and community‑focused experience that supports pupils academically, socially, and personally. The school provides a range of boarding options, including full, weekly, and flexi‑boarding, giving families the flexibility to choose what best suits their needs.
Each boarding house has its own character, creating a strong sense of belonging, with dedicated houseparents and tutors who provide consistent care, guidance, and encouragement. The five houses are comfortable and well equipped, offering study spaces, common rooms, and social areas where pupils can relax and build friendships across year .
A genuine home away from home
Wellington School has three boarding houses. All pupils belong to one of three houses. Each house buzzes with a life of its own, but all are very much part of our one school. We have two boys' boarding houses and one girls' boarding house. All are located on campus just a few minutes' walk from the main buildings.
We do not have exeat weekends so you are welcome to go away when it suits you. The girls house has a Chinese speaking matron and one of the boy's houses has a Russian speaking matron. Read more on our website: https://www. wellington-school.

Special notes to agents about entry to the school We are an academically selective school and seek pupils with A / B reports. We also offer a specialist One Year GCSE programme which can be viewed as a pre-A-level. We are a IELTS testing centre and aim to have all our pupils at level 7 by the end of Year 11.
Application procedure and entrance tests Once we have seen school reports, we will invite pupils to register and pay the £100 registration fee. After that we will send out tests. These will vary depending on the course applied for but will always include Maths.
