Ashford School has been inspiring minds since 1898 and has a reputation for excellence and academic achievement. We offer adventurous learning opportunities for children from 3 months to 18 years, with our Prep School situated in the neighboring leafy village of Great Chart and our Senior School and Sixth Form, in Ashford Town Centre, just a stone's throw from Ashford International.
We are also proud to be home to two exceptional Nurseries: Bridge Nursery, based on East Hill in Ashford Town Centre; and The Stables Nursery based on the Prep School site. What the school is known for? Parents choose Ashford School for many reasons: we achieve high academic success; we work very closely with our students giving attention to the needs of the individual; our class sizes; our challenging and supportive environment; our wide range of co-curricular activities; and our energetic, specialist teachers.

Wecurrently have over 80 co-curricular activities on offer from Amnesty International, badminton and chamber choir, to debating, food studies, and Young Enterprise. We are also extremely proud of the facilities at Ashford School which include a state-of-the-art sports pavilion; sports centre; two indoor swimming pools; two flood-lit astro turfs for hockey, netball and tennis; all-weather netball, basketball and tennis courts; gyms; specialist art, design technology, ICT and science labs; a well-stocked learning centre; a café and atrium; a dining hall; pupil common rooms; playing fields for cricket, football and rugby; an auditorium and theatre; and a music School with several performance areas.
We are also one of only 18 all-Steinway Schools in the UK. Academics at Ashford
What pupils study at Ashford — and where it takes them.
at A level that leading universities value most highly our students have a wide choice of possibilities at Higher Education. As a guide, in recent years, nearly 90% of leavers obtained places at their first choice university, 40% of which were at a UK Top Ten and 20% at a World Top Ten university.
Lessons take Monday - Friday only. Activities take during the school day or in the evenings and at weekends. Some sports fixtures take at the weekends and students who are selected for school teams are expected to be available. Students take part in annual STEM days which combine Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, as well as various competitions and challenges throughout the year such as designing and making a land hovercraft and creating computerised animations.

Boarders make up one quarter of the student population of Ashford School. 85% of boarders are full boarders so live at the school all of the time. This makes for a vibrant life at weekends and in the evenings when boarders have free time. Many of our boarders come from overseas with significant numbers from Africa, Europe and China.
This rich cultural mix is an important and valued part of Ashford School. "I would like thank you and all the team for everything you did for my daughter last year: the encouraging way of education at Ashford School has her a great deal. She is now a very happy teenager, which is the most important, in addition to now being bilingual." Y9 Parent The boarders live in one of two Houses within the School campus: one for boys; one for girls.
Each Ashford boarder is supported by a personal tutor during day time as well as the Housemaster and Housemistress of their House. There are four houses for pupils aged between 12 and 18; two of the houses are for boys, one for girls and one (International Centre) for both year 12 boys and girls.
Boarding at Ashford allows pupils to benefit from all that the school has to offer, with the companionship and life skills that come from living with others. They can share all the richness and diversity of boarding experience in weekend trips, evening activities and inter-house events.
