Headington Rye Oxford is a leading British day and boarding school for girls, aged 3 to 18 and, from September 2024, boys aged 3-11. Boarding is available for girls from the age of 11. Located in the heart of Oxford, the 'Dreaming Spires' of Oxford University colleges, restaurants, shops, museums, theatres, cinemas and an ice rink are all walking distance from the School The School is set on a 35 acre campus which encompasses plenty of green space With over 120 extra curricular activities on offer, there is plenty on site to entertain and occupy the pupils, wherever their interests lie in sports, dance, music, drama, art or in fact anything else!
Coaches direct to Heathrow and to London stop right outside the School The School is able to sponsor boarding students for Tier 4 visas, working with Newland Chase Education to give international girls a chance to study in the UK. There is a strong academic focus at Headington Rye Oxford where girls consistently obtain top results at A Level and go on to study at prestigious universities, such as the six pupils going to Oxbridge in September 2025.
Preparing pupils for the future starts early, from work experience and careers programmes starting in Year 7 including 1:1 chats, careers profiling, talks and lectures from inspirational professionals.

Our expert teachers challenge the girls to think in new and exciting ways, deepening their understanding and subject knowledge. With Oxford on our doorstep, we are lucky enough to be able to enhance and enrich the learning inside the classroom with lectures, workshops and field trips.
We take every possible opportunity to widen our pupil's horizons and give her space and to find where their skills and interests lie. Middle School In Year 9 girls move to Middle School and are encouraged to take increased responsibility for their own learning, having a greater input in the choices of subjects they study.

Deciding what to do after school may seem a long way off, but in fact the process starts from the beginning of the Sixth Form. The majority of students go on from Headington Rye's Sixth Form to university either in the UK or overseas but the rise in university tuition fees means that girls are also considering other options, such as workplace-based degrees, apprenticeships and other training schemes offered by employers.
The Sixth Form provides for girls in the decision-making process and in applying for their chosen destination. Many professionals and academics, especially past pupils, visit the Sixth Form and provide encouragement and stimulation and a window on the world of work.

Rye Oxford is a fantastic way to really take advantage of everything the School has to offer, from evening sessions in our gym or pool, to special-themed house dinners and treat nights. We pride ourselves on our warm, supportive boarding community and the special relationships our boarders make with each other, finding friends for life.
Because we recognise that no two families are alike, we offer lots of flexibility for those who want to board at Headington, with full, weekly, half-weekly and occasional boarding all on offer. While your daughter is with us, we want her to feel at home and we want you to feel confident that she is not just safe and happy but truly thriving.
A genuine home away from home
There are five boarding houses at Headington Rye, providing accommodation for more that 200 girls aged from 11-18. Boarding at Headington Rye is fun and friendly and girls benefit hugely from the facilities, and friendships they form in the boarding houses.
Girls can make their rooms their own, filling private areas with their favourite photographs, posters, books and cuddly toys. Each house is set up to provide the best possible care for the girls who live there. Sixth Form Houses (Girls) Our two Sixth Form houses are both set within the Sixth Form Centre with access to all the excellent facilities on offer.
