Millfield and Millfield Prep are distinctively different. From its foundation in 1935 through to the present day the school has inspired generations of students to immerse themselves in The Millfield Way. Millfield has been named the UK's Best Sports School for 11 out of 12 years and Co-Educational Independent School of the Year, 2024.

The schools' size enables them to offer a diverse range of academic subjects, sports, creative arts and activities, supported by outstanding facilities including science centres, music halls, a theatre, art gallery, equestrian centres, golf and cricket centres and an Olympic‑size swimming pool.

Where our leavers go

Of the 286 Upper Sixth leavers, 222 of them held offers at Higher Education institutions through UCAS. Results day 2025 saw 166 (75%) accepted by their firm choice, 25 (11%) accepted by their insurance choice and 28 (13%) accepted through clearing.

Our students' successes here meant that they move on to take up opportunities in a whole range of course and institutions. An impressive 154 of these students have gained places at Top 30 UK universities (QS rankings) with three students accepting a at the University of Oxford and another under consideration.

Students also secured opportunities outside of UCAS such as Oxford Media and Business School, creative courses such as fashion, music and film, three students on apprenticeships, conservatoires and the military. Six students will be taking up professional sport and 44 students plan to take a gap year as they continue to explore their future options.

Twenty-nine students have accepted offers at US universities with a large number in receipt of academic and/or sports scholarships. Notable colleges (US top 20 ranked) include University of Chicago, Stanford, Duke and Ivy League establishments: Columbia University, Cornell, the University of Florida, and Princeton.

Thirteen students are taking up offers at other overseas universities including Australia, Canada, Dubai, Holland, Hong Kong, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and Zimbabwe.

Millfield is home to 975 boarders from 75 different countries. Boarders live in 19 houses, situated on or within easy reach of the campus. Students from around the world live together in boarding houses and share all aspects of school life including sports and extra-curricular activities, which provide a valuable learning experience.

Their house is the where most students make long-lasting friendships and receive the and guidance of a team of dedicated staff to guide them through their time at the school. All houses have a resident Housemaster or Housemistress (Hs M), an Assistant Hs M who also live onsite, and matrons and non-resident tutors who provide boarders with a warm and supportive atmosphere.
