Wells Cathedral School is offering five music summer schools that aim to help participants develop their skills by offering world-class tutors and a nurturing environment set in an inspiring location. International Wind, Brass & Percussion Summer School 23rd July - 29th July 2023 Ages 10-18, all abilities apart from complete beginners Composing for Media Summer School 23rd July - 29th July 2023 Ages 12-18, Basic experience of composing and software International Jazz Summer School 30th July - 5th August 2023 Ages 13-18, 5 standard with some experience of jazz and improvising recommended International Piano Summer School 30th July - 5th August 2023 Ages 10-18 5+ recommended International Chamber Music Summer School 6th August - 12th August 2023 Ages 12-18, Grade 7 to very advanced International Vocal Summer School 6th August - 12th August 2023 Ages 14-18, Grade 6+ To visit our website and to book onto courses go to: Music Summer Schools | Wells Cathedral School School history The story of Bucksmore Education begins in 1979 when British Educationalist Michael Reise founded a secondary school at Buckswood Grange.
'Buckswood Summer Programmes' was also established as a summer school for international students wanting to learn English. The summer school was modelled on American summer camps, with 'Counsellors' who live with students, teach lessons and lead excursions and activities, providing a higher level of pastoral care, guidance, and friendship - giving students more than just 'teachers' and 'activity leaders' at a summer school.
In 1999, the English summer school for international students split away from Buckswood School for English students, and in 2003 became part of Oxford International Education Group (formerly known as ISIS Education and Travel).
Recognising that high-achieving and well-motivated individual students wanted more from a UK summer school than just English , excursions and afternoon activities, the company developed more challenging courses such as Young Leaders, World University Preparation, Arts Choice and Advanced Studies and located their courses for older students in many Oxford and Cambridge University colleges.
